Titan FC 44 Headlined by Champion vs. Champion Match Up And Interim Lightweight Title Fight

Titan FC announced their 44th event will be held May 19th at the Pembroke Pines City Center in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The night’s main event will feature a champion vs champion match up that will pit Flyweight champion Jose “Shorty” Torres against Bantamweight champion Farkhad Sharipov.

All of Shorty Torres’s professional bouts have taken place in the Titan FC cage. The 24 year old captured the promotions Flyweight title last August by knocking out Abdiel Velazquez in the second round. He defended the belt for this first time this past January by knocking out UFC veteran Pedro Nobre in the first round of their title fight.

Sharipov won his Bantamweight strap by showing great heart and hard as nails toughness in victories over Bruce Lutchmedial and Andrew Whitney respectively. The Kyrgyzstan native has paid his dues in the sport over the last decade and is now on the verge of super stardom if he can take out the rising star Shorty Torres.

The co main event will be for the  Interim Lightweight title and feature former Lightweight champ Gesias Cavalcante and former Featherweight champ Kurt Holobaugh.

The title is currently held by Freddy Assuncao who upset Cavalcante last August to become the top Lightweight. However Assuncao is a natural featherweight and will opt to move back down to 145 where he will fight for that vacant Featherweight title before moving back up to defend his Lightweight belt against the winner of this match up.

Cavalcante bounced back from the Assuncao loss by scoring a one sided, dominating decision victory over Judoka Robert Turnquest at Titan FC 42.

Holobaugh is coming off of back to back wins for Titan including a December rear naked choke victory over UFC veteran Yosdenis Cedeno. Holobaugh won the Featherweight title in 2015  by defeating the newly signed UFC fighter Des Green in a razor close split decision.
