A Fight Time Promotions Flyweight Title fight between Javier Baez and Marcos Gomes that was scheduled to take place last year, is rumored to be in the works for later this year. Gomes was forced to withdraw from their Fight Time Title fight last September after suffering a knee injury.
American Top Team fighter Marcos Gomes is 5-0 in his pro career with all of his fights taking place under the Fight Time Promotions banner. He has been sidelined since last April due to injury and should be chomping at the bit to get back in there to prove he is one of the most promising up and coming Flyweight fighters in the world.
MMA Masters Javier Baez is also 5-0 and coming off of a dominant win over ATT’s Yunier Valdez Fernandez last month in a fight that should have crowned him the Fight Time Flyweight champ. However Baez missed weight and lost his opportunity to win the title despite his spectacular performance. Baez will be equally psyched to get back in there and take home the belt that narrowly escaped him in August.
I think I speak for the entire MMA community when I say “please make this fight happen!” These two are among the best Flyweight prospects in the sport and in a time where the Flyweight division is being prominently highlighted on a national stage with TUF 24, this fight would garner a lot of attention as a headliner for an up coming event.
